Why the HLE Line

Built Like It Has Somewhere to Be for the Next Decade

Welded, Powder-Coated Steel Cage

Full-perimeter welded steel frame, powder-coated for corrosion resistance — engineered for impact protection and long-term durability.

PerformMAX Subfloor

Composite subfloor that shrugs off moisture — no plywood rot, backed by a 7-year warranty.

One-Piece Sidewalls + Impact Guard Roof

A single laminated Filon panel from roofline to skirt — no floor-line seam to leak — under an Impact Guard composite roof that folds back on itself without cracking.

Sealed Electrical

Amphenol/Molex automotive-grade sealed connectors throughout the harness — built to be serviced.

The Lineup

Four Models, Smallest to Largest

Capacities below are maximums — every model is built to order, so smaller and mixed passenger/wheelchair layouts are available on each. The floor plans shown are real build examples to start from; ask us for the configuration that fits your route.

HLE Strykr shuttle bus on the Ford Transit chassis, exterior front three-quarter view
HLE Model

Strykr

Ford Transit Up to 14 passengers + rear luggage

The nimble one. Van-sized footprint, real shuttle capability — ideal for hotels, parking operations, and senior living routes where a full-size bus is more than you need. Drives like the Transit your team already knows.

Example floor plan: Strykr 14-passenger Ford Transit shuttle with rear luggage

Example floor plan — 14 passengers + rear luggage. Many more layouts available.

HLE Mavryk shuttle bus on the Ford E-450 chassis, driver-side angle under blue sky
HLE Model

Mavryk

Ford E-350 / E-450 · Chevy 3500 / 4500 Up to 26 passengers + 7 wheelchair positions

The workhorse of the line. The cutaway platforms fleets have trusted for decades — Ford E-Series or Chevrolet — with HLE’s steel-cage body on top. Configurations from 12+2 wheelchair up to 26 passengers — airport shuttles, church routes, ADA paratransit, and everything between.

Example floor plan: Mavryk 24-passenger shuttle with rear luggage on the Ford E-450

Example floor plan — E-450, 24 passengers + rear luggage. Many more layouts available.

HLE Kavlyr shuttle bus on the Ford F-550 chassis, front three-quarter view outdoors
HLE Model

Kavlyr

Ford F-550 / F-600 · gas or diesel Up to 35 passengers + 10 wheelchair positions

Heavy-duty chassis, serious capacity. The F-550/F-600 platform carries bigger loads, more wheelchair positions, and higher GVWR without stepping up to a freight chassis — the right answer for transit contractors and high-utilization routes.

Example floor plan: Kavlyr 28-passenger with 2 wheelchair positions on the Ford F-550

Example floor plan — F-550, 28 passengers + 2 wheelchair positions. Many more layouts available.

HLE Stratos bus on the Freightliner S2C chassis, front view in the plant
HLE Model

Stratos

Ford F-650 / International / Freightliner Up to 46 passengers + 11 wheelchair positions

The flagship. Full-size capacity on Ford F-650, International, or Freightliner chassis — up to 46 passengers with luggage, or high-count wheelchair configurations for major transit and campus operations. When the route is big, this is the bus.

Example floor plan: Stratos 44-passenger shuttle on the Ford F-650

Example floor plan — F-650, 44 passengers. Many more layouts available.

Good Questions

Shuttle Bus Questions, Answered

Straight answers to the questions bus buyers ask us most.

Do I need a CDL to drive one of these buses?

Under federal rules, a CDL with a passenger endorsement is required when a vehicle is designed to carry 16 or more people including the driver, or exceeds 26,000 lb GVWR. In practice, passenger count is the line that matters — no shuttle bus in the 14-passenger class comes anywhere near 26,000 lb, so the weight test never comes into play. That means the 14-passenger Strykr and 14-passenger Mavryk configurations are typically drivable on a regular license, while larger configurations require a CDL driver. A couple of states set a lower bar: California requires a CDL with passenger endorsement for vehicles designed to carry more than 10 people including the driver (for-hire and nonprofit operation), and New Jersey requires one at 8-plus passengers for hire. Tell us where you operate and we’ll confirm before you order. See our full guide: Do You Need a CDL to Drive a Shuttle Bus?

How long does a built-to-order bus take?

Typically 60–120 days depending on chassis availability and configuration. In-stock units on our inventory page are available now and can leave the same day — and sometimes a stock unit is 90% of what you wanted at 100% less wait.

What warranty comes with an HLE bus?

A 5-year/100,000-mile structural warranty on the welded, powder-coated steel-cage body, and a 7-year warranty on the PerformMAX 500 composite subfloor. The chassis carries its own manufacturer warranty (Ford, Chevrolet, International, or Freightliner depending on model).

I’m hours from a bus dealer. Where does warranty work get done?

Close to home. Even buyers near a bus dealer are often an hour or more away, so we set up warranty repairs with a qualified service shop in your area and handle the approvals. HLE also fields a dedicated traveling service tech for warranty and service work — the goal is getting your vehicle back on the road, not getting it to us.

Are HLE buses Altoona tested?

Yes — FTA Altoona testing applies, and HLE builds run 80%+ Buy America content, which matters for grant-funded and municipal purchases.

Which model fits my group size?

Strykr: up to 14 passengers on the Ford Transit — van footprint, no CDL for typical configs. Mavryk: up to 26 passengers on Ford E-350/E-450 or Chevrolet 3500/4500 — the workhorse. Kavlyr: up to 35 passengers on Ford F-550/F-600. Stratos: up to 46 passengers on F-650, International, or Freightliner. All four take wheelchair configurations.

Can I get wheelchair positions on any model?

Yes. Mavryk handles up to 7 wheelchair positions, Kavlyr up to 10, Stratos up to 11, and every model can mix ambulatory seating with wheelchair securement (Q’Straint systems). Floors can be configured for your actual mix of riders.

Where are the buses built?

High Level Enterprises builds them in Wakarusa, Indiana. BRBS sells and supports them from Greeneville, Tennessee — and we deliver nationwide.
