Rear-entry conversions load the wheelchair from the back — they preserve both front-row doors, park in any standard space, and generally cost less. Side-entry loads from the passenger side via an in-floor ramp, letting the wheelchair rider sit mid-cabin or drive-position. Minivans (Pacifica, Voyager, Sienna) use spring-assisted manual ramps. Full-size vans (Ford Transit, RAM ProMaster) use Braun wheelchair lifts. It’s a function of floor height, not a preference option.
